Executive Team

Michael T. Cooper, PhD – President and CEO

Michael brings more than 25 years of missions and academic experience to our team with special attention in church planting, economic development, and education.  Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental design from Texas A&M, a master’s degree with focus on missions and leadership from Columbia Biblical Seminary and School of Missions, and a doctor of philosophy in intercultural studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.  His ministry career began with Cru where he worked in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.  After the fall of communism in Romania in 1989, he moved to the country and launched a church planting movement focused on the least evangelized area of the country.  He and his team of Romanians and Americans planted seven churches in major cities across the southern region of the country.

In 1999, the Coopers returned from Romania for Michael to continue graduate studies where he eventually joined the faculty of Trinity International University teaching in the area of missions, theology and culture, and social entrepreneurship until 2012.  Since that time, he developed projects to help lift people out of economic and spiritual poverty in Haiti, Uruguay, and Romania with The Timothy Center for Sustainable Transformation, a non-profit organization he founded in 2010 to give graduate students a place to catalyze business as missions ideas.

Michael is married to Loré.  They met on the mission field as college students and then served together in Romania.  They have been married for 24 years and have three children, Michaela (junior at Grand Valley State University studying Social Work), Zachary (sophomore at Texas A&M University studying Aerospace Engineering), and Christopher (junior at Hudsonville High School).

Teri Van Hekken – Senior Vice President, Projects and Partnerships
Teri’s primary role with INUS involves raising awareness of our work across the United States. Her extensive background in marketing and ministry advancement makes Teri a valuable member of the International Needs team.

Rick Kamminga – Senior Vice President, Finance and Administration
Rick keeps the many parts of International Needs moving smoothly. His background in retirement community management and time as an INUS board member give him a unique set of skills and a fresh ministry perspective.

Leadership Team

Terry Heyward – Regional Director
Terry uses her passion for telling others all that God is doing around the world by visiting churches across the United States with national Christians visiting the US. Under her guidance, churches are able to more effectively partner with IN field ministries.

Sarah Lundberg – Marketing Director
Sarah puts her creative skills to use on a variety of marketing materials for International Needs, including print materials, publications, and the website. She has been involved in many areas of the ministry since she joined the staff in 2005.

Keely Lehr – Regional Director
Keely’s passion for our work around the world and her experience in communications gives her the perfect foundation for developing relationships with churches, groups, and individuals.

Heather Little – Sponsorship Coordinator
Heather plays a critical role in our sponsorship program, using her past experience and passion for children to ensure this program meets the needs of children, students, and workers in our partner ministry countries.

Julie Dyk – Sponsorship Coordinator
Julie brings a background in marketing to International Needs. Her attention to detail is an important asset as she facilitates church planter and community worker support and communication for International Needs.

Kelly Lundberg – Sponsorship Coordinator
Kelly uses her tracking and organizational skills to make sure sponsors receive their letters from their children. She also handles supply ordering, making sure we all have what we need.

Jodie Arroyo – Global Ministry Team Coordinator
Jodie facilitates mission trips of all kinds between the vast range of International Needs countries. If you have a question about a trip, Jodie usually knows the answer!

Sally VanderVeen – Executive Assistant
Sally assists the President/CEO with many ministry tasks and also uses her expertise in the field of data management to oversee key areas of administration, including deposits, data entry, and receipting.

Chris VanRegenmorter – Financial Coordinator
Chris oversees accounting and financial aspects of the ministry, closely monitoring project funds to ensure that the resources needed are available.

President Emeritus

Rody Rodeheaver
Rody has dedicated his life to ministry, serving in youth ministry and the local church.
As President Emeritus, Rody helps connect and engage people who are passionate about International Needs.  He served as president and CEO for 17 years with energy, enthusiasm, and integrity. Rody, with the constant support of his wife Kathy, led INUS into an ever-growing ministry both in size and effectiveness. Rody has developed deep personal friendships with Christians around the world where God has used him to strongly impact the lives of many.
